Effects of Thyroid Dysfunction on Women’s Health

 

Description

The following learning activity will focus on women experiencing thyroid dysfunction (known and unknown) and outline manifestations, complaints, and symptoms seen in this population. Guideline-based thyroid testing will be reviewed and then followed with patient case studies to review materials. The activity offers in-depth clinical examples and highlights the implications of thyroid testing and diagnosis.

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for clinical and scientific laboratory professionals, physician - scientists who have an interest in thyroid disease.

Learning Objectives

After completing the activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Define common signs & symptoms for women who have thyroid dysfunction.
  • Understand women’s health impacts due to thyroid dysfunction.
  • Outline thyroid testing guidelines for clinicians based on main complications observed in women with thyroid dysfunction.
  • Recognize the symptoms, how to diagnosis, and how to test for thyroid dysfunction by using patient case studies.
