Description

This learning activity will provide insights into the effects of thyroid disease on the cardiovascular system. Cardiovascular specific management steps to be taken when someone presents with thyroid dysfunction will be discussed, along with a deep dive into a case study for a patient with cardiac complications.

Intended Audience

This activity is intended for clinical and scientific laboratory professionals, physician - scientists who have an interest in thyroid disease.

Learning Objectives

After completing the activity, the participant should be better able to:

  • Outline the necessary laboratory workup when thyroid dysfunction is suspected.
  • Identify indications (both common & uncommon) on the cardiovascular system when thyroid disease is presented. 
  • Indicate appropriate therapies & treatments for managing cardiovascular complications when thyroid disease exists.
